On July 16, 2018, the International Association of Musical Products (NAMM) issued a statement on the current global trade situation, supporting free trade and opposing trade barriers.

As a music product industry organization representing 10,400 members worldwide, the American International Association of Musical Products (NAMM) believes that a strong and dynamic music product industry has a decisive impact on the social, cultural, educational and even economic activity of the world. NAMM will continue to actively engage in dialogue with elected U.S. officials, strive to promote trade freedom, and on various occasions call on U.S. leaders and even world leaders to reiterate the importance of trade freedom.

At the same time, while maintaining continuous communication with U.S. officials, NAMM calls on all members to actively reflect to the officials in their constituencies the concerns and troubles caused by this policy on the issue of tariffs imposed by the United States on Chinese products, materials and spare parts.

In the context of increasing global trade, NAMM will pay close attention to and strive for trade rights and interests of members with respect to relevant trade policies and regulations that may affect their import and export of musical instruments. NAMM also calls on members to make extensive use of their own resources and to reflect their voices and demands to the Office of the United States Trade Representative, the American Chamber of Commerce and the National Retail Association through various channels.
